Timothy Dermody

Timothy’s volunteer fire/Rescue service began in 1986, with the Lakeland Fire Department Ronkonkoma,
New York. Additionally, he served with the Four Communities Fire Department in Cocoa, Florida. In
1993, Chief Dermody joined the United States Air Force where he served as a member of Security
Forces, for almost 22 years. In 2014, Tim retired from the Air Force as the Superintendent of Operations
for Joint Base Charleston, SC.


Chief Dermody joined CCVRS in 2017. Initially serving as a member, Battalion Chief, Division Chief,
Assistant Chief/Administration, and Assistant Chief/Training, he has been an integral part of the Squad.
Tim was elected to the position of Chief of Squad in July of 2024.


In this role, Chief Dermody is the point of contact regarding department related communications with
Charleston County Government representatives and other partner agencies. He coordinates response
activities and resource request with other fire and government public services agencies and is also
responsible for developing the short-term and long-term vision for the Squad. He prepares and presents
the CCVRS annual budget by developing revenues and expenditures based on economic assumptions.
In addition to this role with the rescue squad, Chief Dermody works full-time for the Veterans Affairs as
a Personnel Security Specialist. In his free time, he enjoys traveling with his wife Jennifer and their dog
Hamilton and attending Florida Gators Football Games.
